PineClan
Clan of tall pines
General information: PineClan live in a primarily coniferous forest across a large pond from RidgeClan. They have many small streams that run across their territory, which provides plenty of water when their territory is hit with annual heatwaves. Snow is very common during leaf-bare, which means that green-leaf is often very hot. Their territory has a lot of thick undergrowth and sharp pine needles all over the forest floor. Their camp is located in a large dip in the earth, surrounded by bramble bushes and many other kinds of plants.
Common warrior builds/pelt colors: PineClan warriors often sport long fur that sheds greatly during green-leaf. They have long legs to help them traverse through snow and large paws. They are often known to have very muscular back legs that allow them to leap onto high branches of pine trees. Muscular builds are favored here but sometimes wiry builds are seen. Gingers, blacks and whites are common pelt colors here, though there is a huge variety in this Clan. All eye colors are seen, though blue is slightly less common than others. PineClan warriors also tend to be very ragged and intimidating to the other Clans.
Burials: Burials in PineClan are often quite normal, though each and every cat is buried beneath a tree of their choosing. Their name is carved into the tree and they are buried below it. Their graves are often covered by brambles as this is thought to keep the spirit of the cat safe on the journey to StarClan. A walk through the forest can be an eerie sight to outsiders, as nearly every tree is marked with many names and wrapped in a layer of brambles.
Courtships: PineClan cats have trouble showing their emotions properly, which can cause problems in the romance part of life. However, PineClan cats can tell one another of their feelings by simply saying “papillion”(butterfly in french) to the cat they have feelings for. Thus is seen as a gesture of vulnerability and endless love. Another way to express love is to leave a butterfly wing in the other’s nest. PineClan cats see butterflies as a symbol of great change and endless love.
Decorations: Brambles are a very prominent decoration in the lives of PineClan cats. Medicine cats weave curtains of brambles together for dens to keep evil spirits out and ward away bad omens. Occasionally during green-leaf, flowers are woven into the brambles. This is only done every time a new litter of kits is born into the Clan.
